The City of Barrie seeks to appoint up to three citizens to the Barrie Public Art Committee for a term to expire on November 14, 2026. Desired skill sets include, but are not limited to: experience in community building, public art, architecture, landscape architecture, and/or community arts. UPlift Black Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion is throwing a Fashion Show to celebrate our vibrant Black communities! The goal is to raise over $25,000 through a night filled with Fashion, Entertainment, Silent Auctions, and a wonderful spirit of Community Engagement. | | Call for Local Art for Traffic Cabinet Wraps |
The City of Barrie is calling on local artists to submit original artwork for its annual traffic cabinet wrapping program. This initiative aims to beautify the city by wrapping five or more traffic cabinets with unique, community-inspired designs in 2025. The theme for this year’s artwork is ‘Colours of our Community.’ Local artists are invited to submit a proposed design in the form of a sketch or draft, showing their style, intended composition, and colour palette. Imagery must be family-friendly and community-friendly, and artists should consider the four sides of the traffic cabinet. New for 2025, the City will support the digitization of analogue artwork. Do you know an enterprising youth looking for a summer job? Have they always wanted to test the water with entrepreneurship, but are unsure of where to start? Our Summer Company program might be a great fit! This program is available to students in Barrie, Simcoe County and Orillia who are between the ages of 15 and 29 and are returning to school in the fall. Applications are due by Wednesday, April 30th at 5 pm.

| | Call to Artists: Barrie Arts Awards statuettes design and fabrication |
The City of Barrie invites proposals from artists or artist teams based in the Barrie area to design and create award statuettes for the 2025 Barrie Arts Awards. The Barrie Arts Awards gala is hosted annually in November and celebrates the achievements and contributions of artists, organizations and arts supporters across six categories, including Most Promising Youth, Business Champion, Contribution to the Community, and more. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposal designs for statuettes that are celebratory and will instill a sense of pride in our award winners. Artwork must be suitable for public display (family and community-friendly). The selected artist/artist team will be compensated $3,500 to create seven award statuettes for the 2025 Barrie Arts Awards.

The City of Barrie invites local artists in the digital field and graphic designers to submit design proposals for the seventh annual Mayor’s Innovation Awards trophies. This will be a partnership between the winning artist or graphic designer, who will design the trophy, and Georgian College’s Makerspace, who will produce the trophies. The selected artist or graphic designer will be compensated $1,000 to digitally design the award trophy for the 7th annual Mayor’s Innovation Awards.
