Summer Company applications are now being accepted | Summer Company will provide accepted students, between the ages of 15 and 29, mentoring, business training, and up to $3,000 in funding to start and run their business for the summer. The Small Business Centre will assist youth in the development of their business plan and throughout their business operations during the summer. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 17, 2024.

New Arts + Business Series | A new series of art talks, exhibits, and experiences is being launched in Downtown Barrie at Spare Room in partnership with regional artist Sean William Dawson and business guru Chris Adams. The goal is to bring together two communities - art and business - to create a nonjudgemental environment where individuals from both communities can converge, engage, and network.

Culture Night Out - Culture Plan Update | The City of Barrie is updating its Culture Plan “Building A Creative Future”!
With Barrie entering another period of significant growth, this project will update the City’s Culture Plan to reflect current and future needs and align with best practices, as well as integrate a Public Art Strategy that identifies future opportunities to increase public art in Barrie. Connect with peers while participating in hands-on activities that will help to: ● Understand what is working well in terms of art and culture in Barrie. ● Understand current challenges or barriers faced by arts workers, organizations, and creatives. ● Identify solutions to the challenges or barriers faced. ● Develop a collective vision for the future of art and culture in Barrie. ● Support the MacLaren Art Centre, a City service partner, as they develop a strategic plan. Call for Artists for the Steel Spirit Exhibition | The Steel Spirit is a platform for Military, First Responders, and Hospital Practitioners to share their artwork and their stories. Participants are from all backgrounds, all ages, and all levels of art experience. Each September and October, an exhibition of artwork is displayed in City Hall.
